22ND ANNUAL AMERICAN IMPRESSIONIST SOCIETY NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION

The 22nd Annual American Impressionist Society National Juried Exhibition, September 9 - December 12, 2021 was hosted this year at Gallery 1516 in Omaha,Nebraska. The private opening and awards ceremony took place at the gallery onSeptember 8 for Gallery members and AIS members and guests. The annual exhibit featured approximately 175 juried paintings by some of the top contemporary impressionist painters in the country!  

AIS Master, Charles Warren Mundy, was his years awards judge. C. W. Mundy made brief remarks and together with AIS President/CEO Debra Joy Groesser presented the awards.  The AIS juried exhibitions are made up of three various level categories, Master Members, Signature Members and Associate Members.  This years prestigious Neys Founders Award for the top Masters category was awarded to AIS Master Artist, Kenn Erroll Backhaus for his painting entitled “Essex Interior”. The painting was created through impressionistic brushwork depicting shape, form, value and color of this somewhat chaotic, but dynamic composed interior of a working boat repair shop. The captivating vantage point, subtle interior lighting along with a compelling light effect streaming through the boat house windows were just some of the crucial elements for Backhaus’ work to be judged as the top award winner in the Master category.

30th ANNIVERSARY OF THE PLEIN AIR PAINTERS OF AMERICA

I will be participating in an exhibit and sale at the Steamboat Art Museum in Steamboat Springs, CO, "MILESTONES: Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Plein-Air Painters of America & 100 Years of the National Park Service" Dates 8/5/2016 -10/15/2016, Artist Reception: 8/12/2016  5:00-9:00PM. This exhibit will feature paintings to honor the 100th Anniversary of the National Parks. The exhibit will showcase approximately 45 paintings, including both plein air and studio pieces. Many of the artists will be in attendance at the opening and plein air painting in the area the week before the opening. My painting below, "The Rising Winter Plume" will be part of the exhibit and sale.

2016 Oil Painters of America, Eastern Regional Exhibition

The OPA is once again being hosted by Eisele Gallery of Fine Art, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, from September 9 through October 8, 2016. The City of Cincinnati offers many diversified attractions. Visitors may visit the amazing Taft Museum of Art, the American Sign Museum to watch a neon sign being made, the Krohn Conservatory which offers an indoor botanical garden and rain forest waterfall in an Art Deco style facility, or the Lytle Park Historical District with its Georgian, Greek Revival and Italianate styles of architecture. 

Eisele Gallery of Fine Art is hosting an opening reception and awards ceremony on Friday, September 9, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for artists, friends, press and the public. This will be followed by a separate gallery collectors' reception from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. My painting below, "Harbor Morning" will be part of the exhibition and sale. For more information click HERE

I exhibited in the 16th Annual American Impressionist Society National Juried Exhibition October 1 - 29, 2015 Trailside Galleries, Scottsdale Arizona. I am honored to have received two awards from Judge Carolyn Anderson; The American Art Collector Master Award of Excellence and the Artist Choice Award. I will be exhibiting May 13 through June 15, 2016 -  Oil Painters of America is proud to announce the 2016 National Exhibition, our 25th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils. This celebratory exhibition will be hosted at Southwest Gallery in Dallas, Texas. More than any other year' this will be a monumental event with a strong lineup of don't-miss demonstrations, speakers, festivities and artwork from our incredibly talented members.

I will be exhibiting in the 105 Annual Gold Metal Exhibition April 3 - 24, 2016.  The historic California Art Club presents its signature exhibition, spotlighting more than 200 sculpture and paintings of genres ranging from landscapes and seascapes to figures and still lives. The exhibiting artists include nationally renowned representational artists who have been active in expanding interest in the California Impressionist heritage associated with the organization’s founding in 1909. While the artists employ time-honored fine art techniques, their featured works seek to innovate with modern messages that address societal issues from diversity to the environment.
